How is it a blow when they were the ones that caused it? They all could have stopped it but chose to abide by dumbass in chief. It’s not somehow some well kept secret that everything got crazy expensive, so idk where this headline crawled out of.

in a blow to Republicans before midterms.

The Guardian has an inexplicably high opinion of Americans if they think this is true.

Trump will just tell his worshippers that a wizard did it (a democrat wizard, obviously).

Republican voters have showed us time and time again that they don’t care.

The party of family values, law and order, small government, fiscal responsibility… It’s all clearly complete bullshit, and yet they still fervently support it.

Reality means nothing to them as long as they’ll have their narrative.

I think they meant that suddenly, Republicans will be up in arms about everything they themselves didn’t correct when they had absolute power. It’s the other guys’ fault to them.

Adults will have to hike rates indefinitely to fix all this bullshit and they’ll just spin the blame dems narrative only to blowup the deficit and economy at-large all over again — Rinse & repeat. Behold the credit/business cycle Kuznets swing.

If someone votes based on their values, they are unlikely to remain in the MAGA cult since Trump flip flops constantly. The low propensity voters that enjoy the vibes of making libs cry seem to make up the base.

If (and I pray they do) dems win the house and senate we’re going to see epic Trump insanity and some historic levels of deadlock. I hope they go full on impeachment also. Courts are going to be running 24/7 trying to dig through all of the constitutional crises.

Democratic policies always hit immediately and have lasting effects for years despite any Republican efforts to undo them. Just look at Texas. Ann Richards has screwed them over since 1991! This is a well documented fact. /s

Yeah I can already see it, everything that is wrong, yeah its the Dems fault. We really really want to fix it, but those damned Dems are blocking everything.

I would not be surprised shit goes to absolute hell by the end of the year with the AI bubble popping and we get another terrible Republican president because of the timing with the election now.

Idk if I’d call what Volcker did under Carter “cleaning up” so much as “leveraging a moment in history to break the labor movement”.

Carter ate shit because he put economics stat blocks ahead of real material conditions of Americans. Reagan capitalized on the blunder as corporate conservative media shredded the liberal party.

20.4% price increases for the energy sector as a whole. 74% Y/Y price increase for heating oil! 0.1% wage gains (= real wage losses)! What a bloodbath of a report! I’m kind of surprised that the administration didn’t try to hold it another month.

A bloodbath of a report that not a single conservative in the U.S. will ever read.

Meaning all they have to do is find some wedge issue, like some shit going on clear on the other side of the planet, to convince liberals and independents to stay home or vote for ridiculous 3rd party candidates that literally can’t win. Meanwhile, literally every conservative will show up and find the ® and color in the box next to it and we descend further into fascism.

P.S. This is not a call to give up. This is me trying to point out that we can’t let some distraction prevent us from voting in massive numbers. No more getting sad and staying home or getting mad and voting for a 3rd party with no path to victory to “show the Dems”. REMOVE POWER FROM THE FASCISTS.

A bloodbath of a report that not a single conservative in the U.S. will ever read.

You’re crazy if you don’t think armies of financial analysts aren’t pouring over these figures and still showing up to pull the Red Lever come election day.

all they have to do is find some wedge issue, like some shit going on clear on the other side of the planet, to convince liberals and independents to stay home or vote for ridiculous 3rd party candidates

That’s just been them screaming “Trannies in the WNBA!” for the last two months. Transgender athletes, furries, Muslims, women with purple hair, immigrant caravans, the perfidious Chinese - it’s been GOP Greatest Hits all year long. Hasn’t done them any favors, because all this shit is played out. If anything, its fueling a backlash as groups like DSA tie rising prices and psycho police back to reactionary Islamophobia and Xenophobia and their attendant policies.

That’s not to say the centrist politicians aren’t trying to throw cold water on a Big Blue Wave. Schumer’s come out and said he thinks it would be fine to lose the Michigan and Maine Senate races. Hakeem Jefferies and Tim Walz have done dick-all to stand up for the police harassment of Ilhan Omar. Being professionally mad at Mayor Zohran Mamdani is now a full time job for a lot of right-wing journalists. Folks like Krysten Sinema and John Fetterman are outright campaigning for Republicans.

But since all these people are already seen as repellant (at least in this election cycle) its not doing them any favors.

I’m kind of surprised that the administration didn’t try to hold it another month.

Maybe they did. But a lot of these reports have private-sector corollaries. And holding up BLS reporting in the middle of October because you’re afraid of the results would set off a bigger response than just dumbing the numbers and letting the chips fall. I don’t think there’s much you could say in a business brief that people weren’t already feeling at the checkout counter.

I mean, It’s not the people with investments really feeling it. The S&P 500 is up 12.92% YTD and 26.96% since Trump took office again, and treasuries range from 4.89% to 5.69% depending on the term. I got a 5% raise in January and looking at another 5% raise here in a couple of months, and I’ve gotten 5% in bonuses throughout the year.

There are basically no investment vehicles right now that aren’t significantly beating inflation. Unless you’re playing the market yourself picking individual securities, which is really just gambling, not really investing.

It’s the people struggling without a safety net already that are feeling it the most. Those are the people that need the relief.

Do your investments offer higher than 3.7% returns?

Treasuries are trading at north of 5%. If you can’t get a 3.7% return right now, you need to find someone else to manage your money.

People of class only call him sleepy Joe. His power is beyond human comprehension, even after being asleep at the wheel for four years he still controls the economy and moves the economy inflation and employment rates, a huge feat if it wasn’t for the fact Republicans control all chambers and the executive for over two years.
