The mails will proof once again that they are Nazis and not a democratic party. Will this lead to their ban? Nah, the left is the big issue for Merz, they want to enact the housing referendum Berlin voted for 5 years ago

The logical result of a world where there is no meaningful regulation on social media and they’ve cracked the code for constructing a cozy, individualized reality for every person that consumes algorithmically-weighted content.

I would argue that there’s a big difference between an intelectually honest disagreement, and fabricating facts, inventing realities and just plain and simply ignoring actual proof.

And that’s the problem with social networks. They amplify stupidity and the algorithm is made to enhance whatever the tech-bro billionaires want to enhance. And unfortunately most of them are disgustingly corrupt pieces of shit, when not downright nazis.

Why would they? They’re not voting for the AfD because they’re or aren’t Nazis. This is the same effect as Americans voting for Trump while the establishment was trying everything to paint him as a monster. Which he is. But it didn’t matter because the democratic system was offering these people smears instead of the governance they wanted. I think the same is happening here. In fact if there isn’t too much Nazi shit in these emails, this dump would launder the AfD’s image before their voters. E.g. “See they aren’t nearly as bad as they painted them as!”

I know in a way you are correct, but voting for a far right party heavily sponsored by billionaires because being done with the establishment is certainly a choice… This where I draw the line of not giving these people the benefit of the doubt

Nope I meant if you have an unhealthy obsession about privacy.

Normal people understand privacy but they aren’t insane about it.

Example - I still use whatsapp because my relationships with my family and friends is more important.

So you think they’ll never bother to use your personal information against you, or do the same to anyone you care about? And when it does happen, will you again redraw the boundaries so you’ll never have to stand up for anything or against anyone… all the while assuring others it’s only another small concession?

I am sorry but this is stupid. Here in Europe they want to install an AI spy software on every phone that scans your text and pictures for potentially pedo/grooming stuff. I have no interest in doing that obviously but I think this goes too far and once this is in place it won’t be used for what they say.

If you do not defend your rights they will be taken away and people need to have that exhausting discussion with people like you all the time.

It comes down to your definitit of healthy.

There is a difference between obsession / paranoia regarding privacy and wanting to keep your data private as a default.

I would argue it’s also convenience as well.

I think most people would tell you they want their data private as default. The fact of the matter though, that many in places like this don’t want to hear, is the majority of people simply do not give a shit.

That doesn’t mean they’re wrong headed or don’t care about privacy. It just means the convenience is more important.

Fact of the matter is if you use a computer attached to The Internet nothing is private. If you think this I have a bridge to sell you.

Yes, network effect goes brrrr. It is hard to get people to care enough to Jump ship to let’s say signal.

About the bridge: I am using only free software. I use the PC to look up info, watch shows(local), send encrypted messages and play games (local and von with friends). Where is the privacy intrusion? My IP and metadata?

Web fingerprinting is a bitch (DNS too), also it’s likely you have at least one non-free blob (mostly software freedom rather than privacy being concerned here), otherwise mostly lgtm

If someone cares enough they will find everything they need to know. The difference is the time and effort.

The sad fact no one wants to admit is none of us are special and no one gives a shit.

Dehumanizing people is. If shooting fascists is required to get rid of them, then we may need to shoot some fascist people. If locking them up where they can’t harm others works, that’s sufficient. If training them somehow to not be fascists and instead be beneficial members of society, even better.
