My guess would be that the more instructors you have the more troops you can properly train. It’s not enough to have couple of Spetznaz guys to train an army. You need a lot of them but you also need them actually fighting on the front.

But seriously, times have changed and society has completely different idea of what acceptable risk for a child is than 30 years ago. They will also prosecute you for letting your kids do things that go beyond the limits they established. Not for actually letting your kid get harmed but just for risking it which will always be subjective. Everyone is scared now (even though crime is going down) and you have to be too or they will treat like you’re crazy. For me it’s just another reason not to have kids.
They way I see it this is the less important part of the regulation so saying that manufactures are just ignoring the rules set by EU is alarmist and clibaity. Same thing happened with GDPR: there was a mess with consent popups, some companies ignored the requirements, EU started giving out fines and things improved. I wouldn’t expect anything different here. So far we’re talking about sticker requirements. Now that the law requires manufacturers to actually provide replacement parts we have to let EU enforce them and things should improve.
I don’t think politicians set this law to fail on purpose. The alternative would be to create some certification authority which would add a lot of red tape. This could turn out to be a good compromise. We’ll see.

It complains about requirement to list prices or spare parts on a website. 80% of phone labels don’t include a URL to that websites. Looks like they are meeting other requirements and the article only complains about the missing URL. So saying that “makers don’t bother to comply” is a misleading clickbait.
The requirement was only to include this URL but since most of those manufacturers most likely don’t offer replacement parts they didn’t set up websites that list them.
Now, starting July 2026 they actually do have to sell replacement parts. As a consumer you have the right to request them and if those are not provided you can file a complaint. My guess is this will be rolled out slowly and will take some complaining and fining to reach 100% compliance. So… familiarize yourself with your rights and file complaints when needed.
But they require dark room. Where I live in summer it gets dark at 23:00 so you need great curtains or you can’t see anything most of the day. If you have curtains you have to watch everything in complete darkness. This is fine for a movie night but people like to watch news or watch a game with their friends over some food. You also need extra device to handle apps like Jellyfin. Things like BT can be more complicated to set up (my TV handles multiple BT devices nicely).
Projectors are basically great for one or two things (home theater and gaming) but are bad for everything else.

Not in UK but way ahead of them. I have canned food for couple of days and stockpile of rice, pasta, lentils and such. From camping equipment I have couple of gas stoves (with gas, of course) and water filter. I have a barrel full of rain water and some bottled water as well. I could probably stay inside for a week comfortably or 2-3 with some rationing.

This looks really nice. I see you can create custom plugins in Lua. I haven’t seen other Wayland desktop with good plugin system. This looks like it could finally be a good replacement for Awesome WM. I might give it a try.
It’s FOSS and easy to set up. KeePass simply stores everything in a file and you use Syncthing to sync this file between devices. Syncing is optional, if you just need you password on desktop you don’t need it.
KeePass has pretty bad UX when compared with Bitwarden though. Bitwarden/Vaulwarden is the best solution IMHO but it’s really difficult to set up.
Also, scrambler is not mandatory (I don’t have it enabled) so Graphene OS devs explanation that “we will not enable patter ulock because it’s not secure” while normal PIN can be enabled still doesn’t hold.
Also, who are “they”? Yes, someone in some situation can figure out the patter from smudges. In other situations someone can see your PIN. If Grapehene dev are so worried about screen unlock security they should implement the system BlackBerry had which was super convenient and impossible to figure out even when looking directly at someone’s screen.
