SpaceX, the parent company of various Musk ventures including Starlink, is reportedly in talks to acquire low-cost carrier Boost Mobile—or at the very least, gain access to its network—according to reporting by The Washington Post.

This deal could see Musk upend the telecom space as his plans to launch a mobile phone service through SpaceX failed to launch after the three major carriers—Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T—refused to give the company access to their networks.

Boost has no native network, they’re an MNVO wholly on AT&T’s pipe. They sold all their spectrum to AT&T in 2025 after they failed miserably, and possibly on purpose, to build out the promised network capability.

I remember thinking at the time they bid and won just to hope to be bought out by T-mobile or Verizon…

Musk has a pattern of building things that look real but actually do nothing. Flying cars, underground high speed rail, autonomous robots…

The same communications company that turns on and off the phone for an entire nation at war to buddy up to oligarchs ?

I think I’ll pass on that one.

Oh, good! A network as shitty as Trump phones themselves; like a match made in heaven. I can practically feel the heavy breathing of whomever is listening in collecting my data!

Great. What’s the best alternative? Boost has been a pretty damn good pre-paid option for me where I live and even when traveling into Canada. Can’t beat the cheap price. But as soon as Elon gets involved with Boost in any way I’m fucking out. I want nothing to do with that cocksucker.

I looked at U.S. Mobile, but that seems way too complicated, having to manage which carrier you’re piggybacking off of yourself - who has time for that? Not to mention the cheesy names they have for the 3 carriers who’s networks they utilize (dark star, warp and lightspeed).

Is StraighTalk really the only other option for cheap $25 prepaid with good network coverage?
