Neighboring states are also reporting hundreds of cases, with over 3,800 recorded across the country
Pennsylvania has surpassed 1,000 measles cases this year, state health officials calculate, making it the largest state outbreak in more than three decades. The benchmark comes as neighboring New York declared a state of emergency about measles rates there.
Pennsylvania’s health department said Monday 1,004 cases of measles had been confirmed. Five Pennsylvania residents have died after contracting the disease, with 198 hospitalizations.
Lancaster county, with sizeable Amish and Mennonite populations, remains the hardest hit, with 391 cases, according to official figures. Cases numbers have risen over the past three months, with the highest number of infections in the 24-49 age range.

Even if you’ve been immunized against measles, check your immunity status. I had to get a booster because the scheduled one didn’t stick.
Could you elaborate on this?
Ask your doctor for antibody titers or if they’ll give you MMR regardless. I had titers done for work and needed like 5 boosters, including MMR.
It’s called a titer, a blood draw that looks for and counts the presence of measles or chicken pox or hepatitis B antibodies. You can basically ask you PCP to order one. ED or UC will likely not do it and refer you to your PCP for it since it’s not emergent or urgent care.
Blood test to check you have enough antibodies
Somewhere around 3% of people who get the mmr vaccine don’t actually become immune.
Stop asking questions and give me your blood
