It’s just so weird that there’s people that like him and his music. It’s really hard to imagine but they genuinely exist. And you wonder how that’s even possible and you want to meet one to study them, try get an understanding, just general curiosity. Is it a mental thing? A social one? Trauma? What’s happening in their brain where they hear the music and think, “This is really good. It is a favourite thing. In no way is this person a walking meme. They are very cool. I will pay money for this.”
He’s had about 3 good songs and they were all on one album from 1999, so I imagine his concerts got visits from folks wearing nostalgia goggles, same as Vanilla Ice or Marcy Playground.
Now that he’s in the news more for being MAGA, folks who were all “oh boy bawitdaba!” when thinking about him are getting that overwritten with “wasn’t he the dude doing shirtless workouts with the brain damaged antivax dude?”, and thus, ticket sales fall apart.
Honestly a lot of his earlier stuff is serviceable if somewhat forgettable rap rock (He likely was inspired somewhere along the line by the early work of the beastie boys)
Once he decided he was also country fusion it really started to be very very crappy. His attitude is also awful since the early 2000s.
I do recall a song of his called “New York’s not My Home” or somthing (this would be probably late 80s, early 90s) in which he essentially states that the wild stuff he encounters in New York doesn’t bother him because he understands that there are cultural differences between places
It’s a pretty far cry from the weapons level MAGA idiocy he now feeds on, though it seems to be slowly losing wind in his sails so to speak. (No one going to his shows lol)
That being said his best song is “Bawitaba” (sp?) which while fun sometimes isn’t exactly an intellectually rich piece of artwork.
What a rebel, he “can smell a pig a mile away”… so that he can find them, arm them with the military’s hand-me-downs and remove all their accountability?

HEY! You keep Marcy Playground out of this!
Oh dang I’ve angered the entire Marcy Playground fandom.
Okay. That’s a perfect reply.
All 12 of us are here.
I’ve been triggered
And me lol. Marcy playground is grossly underrated. Their first two albums are really good.
I love Marcy Playground, its not just nostalgia to me
All of his “ok music” was when he was almost outlaw country but outlaw rock.
Then we all discovered who he actually was
Yep, cowboy was probably his best and I can’t even listen to it anymore because of how much a magat he is now.
What a rebel, he “can smell a pig a mile away”… so that he can find them, arm them with the military’s hand-me-downs and remove all their accountability?
Song was good but yea he’s such a magat bootlicker that it’s sickening. Thankfully I got Bryan Andrews…

I recall Bawitdaba, which was part of Big Shiny Tunes 4 and got played absolutely everywhere just as I was starting out in highschool.
That is literally the only song I know from him.
Oh, also he had a cameo appearance on the Simpsons.
He also has that shitty one that samples Werewolves of London.
Spot on!
You’re the C.L.I.T. Commander, aren’t you?
