RTGs do get put out in space, however they aren’t used for everything. If a single rocket experiences Spontaneous Unplanned Disassembly while carrying an RTG, it’s a disaster that spreads radioactive materials.

The entire point of an RTG is to use the waste heat as power, and if I understand RTG design, the cooling fins are to provide the difference in temperature that thermoelectric modules need to produce power. So there isn’t a ton of heat that it gives off in general.

Look at the international space station. It has massive radiator panels, and all it needs to do is house humans and the equipment to keep them alive. A lot of bulkiness of space suits is dedicated to heat management.

The #1 product of data centers is massive amounts of equipment-killing heat. That heat either gets radiated via massive radiator panels, or the space data center cooks it’s own equipment.

Also it will now absorb much more heat and heat the water more, likely making filtration much more complex due to changing water conditions.

My pool always gets gross the day or two after a Heatwave starts, and until I ut more chlorine tabs and algaecide, I don’t even like to be near it.

An acquaintance from highschool kept going on about some guy stalking her. Always following her in the halls at school, following her home, and following her downtown sometimes…

He lived on the same street as her, and they both took the same computer class and had band/lunch block together.

I pointed out I recognize him, he finally hit a growth spurt and now he’s much taller and noticeable.

She insisted he convinced his parents to move closer so he could stalk her better.

I never saw him outside one day we were at Walmart and he was clearly there with his parents and little sister. Nope, stalking. She screamed at him and called him names. I left her there.

I also told him if she tried to call the cops or get lawyers involved, here’s my email and I will tell them an outside perspective.

My last interaction with the post office was after a week of getting “PACKAGE NOT DELIVERED, MAILBOX INACCESSIBLE” and no mail at all, and after camping out on my porch to watch it for a day, seeing the mail truck drive right on by and seconds later getting ANOTHER message about the mailbox being inaccessible, I took a picture of the mailbox and went to ask them why their driver is just straight up lying and refusing to deliver my mail.

After speaking to 3 people and filling out some form basically recounting everything, I got a week’s worth of mail and 2 packages the next morning.

I miss the days when the usps functioned well, smoothly, and quickly. Before Republicans started gutting it.

I recently left a job where my coworker was the absolute dumbest motherfucker I have ever met, but at least he was willing to listen to people with differing opinions. I think I managed to pull him a little left, at the very least he started out going “the people in charge generally know what is best for us even if they sometimes dip into things themselves” and ended with “fuck ice, they’re fascists acting exactly like the nazis did and the shitbags in charge are enabling them at every turn, the whole system needs reset” which is a pretty big leap, IMO.

One thing I couldn’t budge him on was the moon landing. It doesn’t matter that I have assisted in a laser range-finding experiment using the retro reflectors left on the moon, thus confirming to myself that we HAVE been there.

It didn’t matter how much I explained the Apollo missions, how much I explained why things behave in space the way they do, how much I explained why NASA essentially hd to rebuild a moon mission from the ground up, or any number of things. He still firmly believed it was all bullshit and we never went there.

I would always end the conversation about space stuff with “the biggest reason to me is that the USSR never came out and said ‘this is fake, here’s proof they faked the landing’ and basically gave up not long afterward, and they clearly had spies and intelligence capable of infiltrating NASA systems and obtaining classified information, just look at the Russian space shuttle. If they knew we faked it, they would have every reason in the world to embarss us by revealing our lies to the world” and he would always agree on that point. Still fake to him though
