I don’t even know what else to add to this headline. This is so fucked up and tragic scary and infuriating and it will in no way slow the resistance.
I don’t even know what else to add to this headline. This is so fucked up and tragic scary and infuriating and it will in no way slow the resistance.
What makes you think I don’t do all of those things? I’m just not out killing people and then dying myself so what’s the fucking point right? Blood for the blood god!
All of this is happening in the most armed country in the world and there has yet been a single major incident where people have been shot by activists, as far as I’m aware. No Kyle Rittenhouse style incident, no crazed lone gun man shooting ICE officers, no tense standoffs between police and armed demonstrators gone awry.
Being on the receiving end of the opposition to Trump is safer than attending an American school.
It’s not that you should be going in to the streets killing people at random. Violence should be avoided if possible. But it’s odd that things are so peaceful in such a violent country. There is no smoke, thus it’s hard to believe there’s a fire.
If Trump feared the opposition, there would be mass arrests on bogus domestic terrorism charges – violence or not.
I read Judge Karen Immergut’s final ruling in early November that blocked the National Guard from remaining in Portland. Its main point was that the violence they were sent to Portland to quell did not exist in reality.
In other words, Portland avoiding violent resistance allowed the judge to kick out the National Guard. The courts are holding, and so is the military. It’s taking time, but they are not all going along with this, and both the judiciary and the military are required for a successful coup. In reality he’s losing power faster than he can consolidate it.
Don’t be blinded by single events. That’s what they want. If you do not want a fucking occupation of your city based on the lie that they are there to quell violence, then violence is not the correct response at this point.
Given that avoiding midterms altogether is the entire point of all this escalation – Venezuela, ICE murdering citizens, all of it – I will not judge anyone sane enough to avoid it for now.
I suggest you do the same. By which I mean “Violence should be avoided, but . . .” is not actually an anti-violence statement.
