Fuuuuuuckkkk I miss SOAD, I miss those bands that really had a message back then, the songs that would rile you up, make you think, make you realize… RATM!
I get that. It’s not on the same level as RATM, the lyrics hit, but it’s more of just talking shit than a full message. RATM brought you into a world. RTJ just kinda takes pot shots. It simply doesn’t have quite the impact.
FOR YOU AND ME TO LIVE IN!

What would be a modern version of this?
Protest music is still ongoing, if not stronger than ever. Hell, even Morello is politically active, look at his merch line
Grandson - Brainrot
Grandson - Self Immolation (honestly this whole album is bomb)
Green Day - F Off (2025)
Pussy Riot - Putin’s Ashes (2023)
Garbage - No Horses (2017)
DJ Shadow + RTJ - Nobody Speak (2016) (bit older but just as relevant)
Pussy Riot - Make America Great Again (2016)
Art is and will forever be a form of protest
Bob Vylan
Run the jewels.
Man, if only the music itself could appeal to me. Their lyrics are ok.
