Keisha Lance Bottoms will be the first Black female governor elected in the country, after she won the Georgia governor’s race, according to a race call by the Associated Press.

Bottoms’ win marks the first time Georgia has elected a Democratic governor in more than 20 years, breaking the Republican hold on state government in Georgia. But she will likely be working with a Republican majority in at least one chamber of the legislature.

These kind of news are horrible for the pedosphere. For them it’s already bad enough that they lost, but doing so to a black woman? I mean, not just a black person, not just a woman… A black woman! That’s something unbearable. I’m worried about the amount of people who will get a rage-induced aneurysm because of these news.

Now, for the sad news of today, it still is NOT Friday.

I voted for her. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I’m pleasantly surprised. She was honestly a weak candidate because of how so many view the way she ran Atlanta. I’m ecstatic that she won, and it is a huge statement; not because of her identity but because of the fact that I drive by multiple permanent Trump signs every single day. Outside of the cities here, the MAGA runs deep.

Remember this when you see all the non-voting pissants saying it doesn’t matter.

It’s insane how many red state races are up in the air with a <50 vote differences. “Voting doesn’t matter” is just another voter suppression tactic, but since it’s implicit people don’t clock it.

nope. still time for the dems to make this mean exactly nothing. you guys are just mostly celebrating (loudly; no objection, it is your night) in positive ways rather than being the kind of obnoxious shit that made me swear off voting, and it would be a tiny mushroom dicked move to shit on your parade when you’re not doing that.

    I’m so happy for her.

Texas just got a Hispanic woman governor pushing out Abbott too.

    Its a historical night.

Wild that we’ve been a country for 250 years and we’ve never crossed this particular intersection. Makes you think

It’s also wild that it’s Keisha Lance Bottoms, of all people. As an Atlantan, I didn’t like her as a city councilperson or mayor and I can think of several local black women who would’ve been better, such as Felicia Moore or Stacey Abrams. But in this case, she’s still better than the alternative.

That is simply huge. A few weeks ago people were talking about it being a split ticket election. Democratic Senator but Republican governor. Wow.

Thankyou GA. You’ve been fighting the hardest since the Civil Rights Movement. Bless you and may your state prosper!
