In a 41-page brief filed October 8, attorney Li Nowlin-Sohl and other lawyers representing the prisoners argued that the justices should uphold an updated preliminary injunction issued this year by U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth. The order followed an injunction issued last year and blocked the Bureau of Prisons from enforcing a policy implementing President Donald Trump’s executive order denying gender-affirming care to transgender people in federal prisons.

Isn’t it really dangerous to just stop? This is beyond cruel and unusual.

If they no longer have their ovaries/testicles, they will end up with basically no sex hormones which will put them at significant risk of conditions like osteoporosis, heart disease, etc. If they do have them, suddenly stopping medication is still bad. Then there’s also the mental health part which is most likely going to be even worse.

I foolishly thought I didn’t need to take hormones anymore after my surgery, and I had lost contact with my endocrinologist. So I didn’t bother finding a new one…

Till one day I kept having hot flashes and cold streaks one after the other in rapid succession, and became very weak. Made an appointment to get some emergency estrogen.

Got a transphobic doctor who claimed that my motives were suspect and that she had no one of knowing if I was REALLY already on estrogen. (I brought an empty pill bottle with my name on it to prove that I was) she then actually called security and claimed I assaulted her. Security took me back and not only did I convince them that I couldn’t have because of my debilitating condition, but I needed estrogen to be healthy again.

They talked to that doctor wrote me a prescription for a low dose of estrogen, but she still claimed I attacked her. I got them to agree not to press charges under the condition that I see a therapist of theirs for my “anger issues”

I agreed to this due to not wanting to be arrested, and realizing I could probably get a regular endocrinologist by explaining that I’m trans to said therapist.

Saw the therapist, she was cool as heck and not only believed my side of the story, but had me diagnosed with bipolar and got me on meds for it. Still see her to this day. I consider her a friend.

I get prescribed hormones regularly now.

It depends but mostly its dangerous because the sort of body horror forcing a detransition causes tends to make people kill themselves.

anti-trans is pretty much the hot topic of conservatism right now, to distract the rubes from voting against the gop.
