Followed! If you ever make exfoliating soap like the MARLOWE body scrub soap or even like the Necessaire body exfoliant bar I’ll be the first in line.

These look awesome! Out of curiosity, is there any alternative for Etsy? I used to really like it, but now it’s nearly impossible to tell what’s “real” (not drop-shipped)

Oh trust me I’m not some dropshipper! I make all these soaps myself, design the labels myself, take pictures of them myself, I’m a one-woman army! But for Etsy alternatives I’ve seen people use sites like Shopify or Redbubble. There are smaller sites too but I’m not 100% what they are. I’d like to have my own website someday but I need a following first and Etsy makes it a bit easier for me to get exposure

I’ve been dragging my feet on making my next batch of cold process soap. Your work is so inspiring! Thanks for sharing.

Most of the time I see these handmade soaps at a display I pick one up to smell it, and it is instantly amazing. For a second it makes me wish we had Smell-o-Vision monitors, but then someone would just find a way to dutch oven the rest of us and I realize afresh what a truly shitty idea that is. But I’d have it for your soaps.

    Well done, OP.

I fucking hate these kinds of soap because I always feel an intense need to eat them.

With that out of the way these look amazing keep up the great work.

I wonder if there are there any active fediverse communities where people share their handmade works they make like this. I’d love it if you kept posting your work.

Wren on my instance has an alchemist art guild community where they share various fun stuff. They got me to make paper from junk mail recently.

Thank you! I had to look up what the fediverse was, and now that I know I may need to make some socials on some “fed” accounts! I found Lemmy because Reddit keeps banning any account I make for some reason, so I came here. I’d love to expand more into the Fediverse and I definitely won’t stop sharing what I make!

I mention it because lemmy is very anti advertising, even for self plugging hand made crafts. Ultimately I’d love a community where we can support small artists.

Stick around, we’re better than Reddit. If you want a twitter-like experience, check out Mastodon, Pixelfed ≈ IG, and they’re both a part of the fediverse (you’d need to create accounts on each platform, but one can follow another).

Yeah that’s one thing I don’t super understand with the fediverse and Lemmy is the servers/instances. It reminds me of how 4chan operated and I never fully understood that either lol. I’m sure I’ll figure it out! I just wanna share the soap and other things I make with anyone and everyone!

Yeah, this would be too niche to have something atm. It would need to be an artisan community where people would post handmade crafts you can purchase.

I’ve always wanted to try to make soup. I do lots of crafting including lotions and salves. Is it easy? Is it fun?

Fun, yes! Easy can depend on lots of factors. Soap making, at least cold process soap (which is what I do) is just as much a science as it is an art. You work with lye which is caustic and can be very dangerous if handled recklessly. Adding the lye to the water (never the other way around or it’ll quite literally explode) causes it to heat up to nearly 200F (close to 100C) so that’s something to be cautious about, as well as the soap batter (created by blending the lye water with oils) can irritate and even burn the skin.

I see it like cooking. You can make your own recipes, but like baking the measurements must be precise. As long as you take proper safety precautions it can be very easy and fun! If working with lye is a little too intimidating, melt and pour soap may be more your thing. Hope that helps!

        You work with lye

Oh, so this is like, real soap. Not the synthetic detergent bars that we typically call soap.

These, and the ones in the comments, look freaking magnificent!
    I very much like it!

Though, Etsy does not open at the location I am at at this moment at works, in Europe, Asia, giving “HTTP 403 Forbidden” (possibly due to regional restrictions), it’s dear awesome to know you do such a lovely art…

Thank you heartfelt… for the real marvel, art you do…
