Claims that socialist party Die Linke threatens Jewish life in Berlin are shameful lies. Sadly, many desperate German politicians would rather make cheap antisemitism accusations than address the cost-of-living issues that drove Die Linke’s victory.
How come Germany is still wildly attracted to their horrible crimes against humanity during the second world war?
IMHO, because the pushback against that mindset did not came from the inside, it came from the outside.
It was not the Germans who rebelled against and overthrew the NAZIs, it was foreigners who came over and overthrew them.
So it’s not all that unsurprising that the even whilst they hid the swasticas and stopped the goose-stepping, the foundational mindset remained the same.
It probably didn’t help that the dominant power in the Allies - the United States - were also (and still are, to quite an extent) extremely racist.
