Exactly. I often wonder why people who have no idea about how technology works get to decide rules on it. Nor will they partner with experts…partnering with Zuckerberg or Altman certainly doesn’t fucking count
This is feel good nonsense designed to give the governor the appearance of being opposed to AI without him actually doibg anything. So, it’s perfectly in character for Newsom.
It’s too late for that now.
What is the mechanism he’s suggesting?
Unless AI is running its own data centers, power plants, and biological weapons factories, it has a kill switch.
AI doesn’t even exist yet. And he’s a politician, he has not the slightest idea what he signs. He just signs whatever he was paid for or whatever will make him reelected.
A kill switch doesn’t let you turn something off. It lets you turn it back on again.
