  • I mean, I don’t think we should throw the baby out with the bath-sewage.

I do really want a file system that allows semantic search via embeddings. That would give good natural language retrieval or even person based search on your photos.

You can run those entirely locally. You can train them reasonably, though the AI labs have good quality ones. They’re available for free, and I can commute thousands per second on a modest GPU.

Why not have a filesystem integration for them, with pluggable model support. You can do that with lancedb or chromadb, or pgvector, or you could build this into a SQLite plugin.

Also, making hooks into software that agents can use if needed, also enables accessibility software to use them. I’ve been using AppleScript for like 20 years to automate shit, it’s nice that now I can plug agents into it, and all sorts of macOS features are built on the same bridges.

There’s no need to default to plugging into the US based providers who (by US law) don’t respect privacy.

That’s why we dumped one of our friends.

Everything was about her. She’d complain about wanting to change, and if you mentioned it when she was doing the destructive thing she’d get pissed. If you needed something from her you were taking advantage or putting to much on her.

She had some fancy therapy bully words for it, it’s too early for me to remember.

Anyways, removing her from life removed like 90% of all drama.

She could be very fun, but in hindsight awful fucking person.

ETA: probably the worst was she was trying to save money to propose to her partner, but took uber everywhere. We bought a new car. Instead of selling the old one we gave it to her. For free. She would constantly complain about that fucking car all the time. There was a mechanic who wanted to buy it because it was in such good shape for its age.

  • In the before times we had to VPN into machines and run large data processing jobs that took hours. It was pretty normal for everyone to leave their laptop half-open on their desks during lunch.

No, it was not a good idea. Yes, we fucked with each other and changed people’s backgrounds or chat usernames or email signatures.

Anyways, if you’re on Mac you can run caffeinate -i claude and your computer won’t go to sleep until you close your Claude Code instance. You can also attach it to a PID. Then you can close your computer’s lid and it’ll still run.
