The family of a Haitian immigrant who froze to death in early March at a bus shelter in Pittsburgh after she was dropped off in the city by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is poised to file a lawsuit this month against the United States and “multiple other governmental and non-governmental entities”, the Guardian has learned.
Daphy Michel, 31, had been in county jail for six months after a reported mental health crisis and street incident, and then was arrested by ICE before being released with a ankle monitor.
She was left to make her way home to Charleroi, a small community on the outskirts of Pittsburgh about 20 miles (32km) away, but was found dead three days later. In June, Pennsylvania officials said she died from hypothermia and ruled her death a homicide.
just so people know, in case this is unfamiliar, cops have been doing this to indigenous women for decades, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada, and near the black hills (Montana, the Dakotas). what ICE is doing is not new, it is an expansion of this violence to more target groups. i advocate for the abolishment of ICE because the USA’s modern day slave catchers cannot be reformed. their existence has been engaged in the latin american genocide since they were established. further, though, i need people to understand that the abolishment of ICE will not represent an end but a beginning. we need societal reform beyond the elimination of just one racist police force

They would do it on the. Canadian prairies as well dropping first Nations people they pick up out at the edge of town with no winter gear. If they are lucky they just get frostbite.

Every officer involved in any of this should be fired on the spot, then also fired again but from a cannon.
Every officer should take a starlight tour too.
If just one officer lost their pension over this the practice would end immediately. But theres no accountability for cops for much of anything. Never has been.
