Frankly I’m surprised that Texas law enforcement cooperated, least of all the Rangers. Doing so could have easily shut the whole case down, Minnesota cops are not going to run a snatch and grab in Texas under the noses of Texas cops.

Guess they’re either not ready for shit to get real yet, or they’re just not willing to go that far for one mook.

Forget the Rangers helping. The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General apparently helped. They’re the ones who are supposed to investigate the DHS on stuff, but I’m pretty sure they’re captured.

investigators from the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General and from the Texas Rangers had helped take Mr. Castro into custody.

It feels like this guy is in trouble for being caught an a lie to his superiors, not because shooting civilians is a problem. And the DHS will probably still want him to walk free, they’re just willing to make him the sacrificial case to argue federal supremacy with rather than the agents that executed two unarmed citizens.
