It’s been known for some time that many of those from outside the US are unfamiliar with our tipping culture. I was a waiter in a nice restaurant in '96 when the Olympics were in Atlanta. We had lots of large parties that we added a 20% gratuity to, and clearly indicated on the check and no one complained. But normally the only place you encountered tipping then was in a sit-down restaurant with waiters. Now there’s a thousand and one places where you’re encouraged to tip. Even places where it’s only counter service and you’re supposed to put money in a tip jar when you pay the cashier. It’s all over the place and it’s completely ridiculous and out of hand. Americans hate it. It’s no wonder our guests are confused and pissed off.

I’m sure this current administration and some oligarchs have been, and are, doing everything in their power to know as much about each of us as possible. With AI and some Doge ‘behind the scenes’ work, a bad actor could say “I want to know everyone who shows even a slight bent to the left” so we can target them." Control and manipulation is the point. I couldn’t be happier to hear this, but let’s be clear, these “evolving scientific priorities” are where our current administration just says what they want to be true to help establish a narrative even if it goes against what science says. And the more they’re able to stop studies or cancel projects that might counter their narratives with actual science the easier it will be to get their narrative to stick.

It seems pretty suspect since this was supposedly an event that all conservatives rallied around and attempted to basically get Kirk a “sainthood” that I haven’t heard the guy’s name that supposedly shot him once in months.
