News@lemmy.world•Marjorie Taylor Greene open to healthcare deal with Democrats amid shutdown
12·28 days agoI swear, you ML users really do give Lemmy a bad name.
I didn’t state anywhere to reach across the aisle, did I - you just made up your own strawman to get angry and argue against.
However, I did say if someone from the other side - even a gremlin like MTG - supports your existing position and they are the one reaching across the aisle, only a petulant, short-sighted fool would leave them hanging.
But you do you, an stay mad I guess.

1·28 days agoIs the removed word the 2nd letter of the alphabet, followed by something you scratch?
Or is it the Australian term of endearment?

481·28 days agoSpeaking as one, we Progressives & Leftists need to ditch this purity-level mentality - it’s self-defeating.
Is MTG an absolute shit-goblin? 100%! But can she be useful in restoring ACA funding, and releasing the Epstein files? Also, 100%!
This is in part how the right has managed to shift the Overton window so far towards their side since the 2000’s. It’s about damned time we co-opt such successful tactics in order to bring some sanity back.

News@lemmy.world•DHS agents retreat as Chicago cops refuse to shield them from swarming protesters
4·1 month agoFair enough!
I don’t know the exact specifics surrounding the denial of access to bathrooms (ie. if they were private residence, commercial business or public access); but in the case of the first two - even if not necessary- either the 3rd or 4th amendments could be used as grounds to legally refuse entry and/or sue in the event of subsequent unlawful trespass.
Either way, this entire fiasco is just an amusing sideshow to the otherwise absolute carnage that ICE is attempting to wreak upon US cities.
I just wish I still had enough faith in the political opposition to be able to hold each and every one of these barbarians (starting with Stephen Miller) to account if/when the current regime collapses in on itself.

News@lemmy.world•Trump insists grocery prices are down. Do Americans buy it?
8·1 month agoI’m sure there would’ve been one or two occasions where he may have stepped into a (likely closed) one, in order to survey before demolishing it to build one of his gaudy towers or failed casinos.

20·1 month agoSomething, something - Third Amendment?
I’m not an American - but I’m pretty sure the 3rd basically means that they can (and should) be refused service freely by anyone and everyone who wants to?

Interestingly enough, I was casually window browsing TVs and was surprised to find that LG killed off their OLED 8K TVs a couple years ago!
Until/if we get to a point where more people want/can fit 110in+ TVs into their living rooms - 8K will likely remain a niche for the wealthy to show off, more than anything.
