It is one of my favorite broken mechanics that in the middle of a fight I can guzzle 99 potions to get me back up to 9999 health. You know so I can save all those 99 elixers for just in case.

131·4 days agoThere is a demand for the data centers, but its not ai. That’s just the excuse. They’re building a surveillance state to track everyone. You thought the Chinese social credit system was bad just wait for the American freedom to lick billionaire boots surveillance system where anyone critical of the new nobility gets locked out of social mobility.

World News@lemmy.world•Trump says Iran agreed to not have nuclear weapons, but ‘they can change their mind’English
81·7 days agoThe point of the Obama Iran deal wasnt to stop Iran from getting the bomb. It was to diffuse regional tensions by having a publicly contrite Iran work its way back into the global economy. Moderate dems have always believed in peace through economic colonialiam. Similar to how his administration softened on Cuba.
If it had been left in place Iran would be selling oil without sanction to the whole world right now, and building a larger economy of manufacture for the region. Any guess as to who in the area didnt fuckin want that?

142·13 days agoDid you know that many of the companies that serve these cameras are data collection firms that sell the data they collect, often to governments for the purpose of tracking people wherever they go. But yeah I guess this the only way we can get people to slow down.

374·13 days agoYou know, speed cameras are expensive to cities, and a lot of the fines go to paying the company servicing the cameras rather than filling the local coffers. Not to mention they contain a Iot of copper and other sellable materials.
My favorite weird little guy was a halfling rogue, but he had an academic background. So he played like this overly optimistic nerd who just wanted to make the world a better place. I was playing him in a way that his optimism would fail when facing reality, but I kept rolling 20s. “Couldnt we all just get along?” Solved two conflicts. The best one was, “perhapse you have forgotten the power of love!” Convinced two dragons who hated each other to date. I miss that little guy. I still use his voice sometimes.
You telling me the gang wouldn’t get sidetracked by a locked door?
My friend ran a one shot session a while back. Lots of fun, new players to the table, but everyone was experienced. The boss that night wasnt the commissar or the backstabbing official that gave us the mission, it was a locked door. Sometimes it’s not about the storytelling or the hooks. sometimes even good players in a good group are dense and all you can do is sit there hoping they figure it out as they bang their heads against the wall.
On the one hand, “Oh yall latched onto an inoccuous flavor comment I made and now you want to go somewhere else entirely? Okay, gimme a minute.”
On the other hand, “please for the love of God I set this situation up specifically for the players background and character growth so stay here a minute and just solve the goddamn riddle. Its horse, okay the answer is horse!”
My friend ran a game recently where the final boss ended up being an open door. Good times.

My good them, they’re trying to get us back to the 19th century.
