News@lemmy.world•Raging Stephen Miller Suggests Slapping Handcuffs on Blue State GovernorEnglish
27·4 days agoWhich is why I maintain that the civil war never ended, it just went cold.
Andrew Johnson was the first victory of the south in the long cold war that followed.
It was a state fair? This is what you do at fairs?
Fun yes.
Funding? What’s that?
Speed of light in a true vacuum.
Speed of light through any non-vacuum decreases.
The speed of causality remains the same.

9·4 days agoWhich I really don’t get. We’re called WASP for a reason. It’s not just because it’s “white Anglo Saxon protestant” it’s because we’re scary in any amount.
Like shit, I’m far more terrified of other WASPs than any other categories of people.
(Well, ok I guess technically I’m not protestant anymore, but I consider being raised that way enough.)

9·8 days agoIt’s all about feeling superior.
They really, really, really don’t like the idea of someone being better than they are. When the vast majority of humanity is.

50·8 days agoOf course. That’s literally the whole point.
Yes, Hitler targeted and killed 6,000,000 people simply having Jewish ethnic or racial connections.
He killed an additional 7,000,000 in Germany alone. I thought we had an estimated total of Non-german non-combatants, but it turns out we don’t. The Holocaust has been that trivialized.
Honestly, the whole “eugenics” thing is also a trivialization. Eugenics gives a very elementary level excuse to what the Holocaust was. Nazis killed whoever they could. Why? Because it made them feel superior. There was no “master” race. There was no “well controlled breeding program.” There were sex slaves for Nazis - wrapped up with some nice benefits for the right women to use as propaganda.
That’s the fucked up part. ICE? They’re comprised of school yard bullies. They do this because it makes them feel superior. Going after people who can resist? Only if they’re heavily outnumbered.
They despise intellectuals not because we’re capable of free thought or organizing resistance, or actually a threat of any kind. But because we simply make them feel stupid. Feeling stupid is contradictory to feeling superior, so they act accordingly.
That’s it. That’s how simple these assholes are. “Can I make myself feel bigger than them?”

5·9 days agoI know it’s not very woke of me to judge someone based on looks, but… I mean… It’s kind of obvious.
Mood.
They’re about to find out just how important I actually am. Which isn’t a lot and it frightens me greatly. Or, I’m wrong, and I’m more important than I realize.
The grippy socks will be here soon and either way they’ll be necessary to survive until the next burnout.
Look man. Mycelium. It’s all connected don’t you see? I don’t mean clones. They’re not clones. Its something else. It’s one BIG connection. It’s one BIG organism.
And it’s MASSIVE. You think it’s just a little mushroom on the forest floor. But under that mushroom is a string. A string that connects to another string that may be connects to a root or another mushroom. Then strings with no mushrooms between the trees. And the strings outpace the trees.
So the direction the trees grow in? Isn’t decided by the trees, or the larger environment around it at all. It’s decided by the mycelium. They grow outward, find the nutrients, and set the conditions for seeds to grow there, and change conditions elsewhere.
The war between fungi and bacteria is an ancient and bloody one.
I don’t fear the bacteria. No. They can colonize and grow resistance to antibacterials produced by the fungi and chemists. But fungi? Fungi can communicate. Fungi can parasitize. Fungi can grow in radiation contaminated environments.
They are the dominant lifeform on this planet.
And if you still don’t believe me, wait until you inexplicably have a yeast infection despite practicing hygiene taught at a super young age. That itch. That pain. It’s a higher evolved organism consuming everything.

46·9 days agoIt’s kind of telling when Amazon services like Ring, Prime Video, and Alexa failed over pretty quickly, but everything else just didnt.
There’s no conspiracy here. It’s just highlighting that Amazon could prepare for AWS outages in a region, but since everything auth related was on us-east-1, everything else went down.
Shortcuts are costly.
The fact that you knew exactly what I was talking about enough to pull up the relevant XKCD is impressive good sir/ma’am/(actually I don’t know what the non binary term would be there. I know military it’s “Sir” regardless).
