3·6 days agoSo these really are hikes you’re doing every day, or just about?
But if part of this is sparsely-populated farmland, being able to compare population density might give us a better picture of where the people really are. It wouldn’t necessarily help us visually compare population, since London doesn’t seem to have a lot of high rise residential buildings, but maybe give a better idea of the sprawl.
Maybe we need something that will let us overlay population density maps, not just geographic boundaries

11·13 days agoI remember a Scottish lady telling us in the ’90s about how they had vans that would drive around to find illegal TVs and the whole thing was just mind-boggling to me!
It’s hard to pick a favorite, they all have their strong points

6·14 days agoI really don’t know enough about Perplexity AI to have an opinion one way or another, which is why I’m upvoting for awareness. I can’t say whether it’s a good or bad thing, although I’m not optimistic given the general trend of shoehorning “AI” in whether it makes sense or not, but I’m sure there are actually useful applications for the product and a better search engine could be one. I want actual search results, though, not a generated slop answer.
How dare you, Clue is flawless!

If I remember the story correctly the poop wound up getting caught someplace very obviously visible from the bathroom window
That has an almost timeless feel, like it wouldn’t have been too different 80, 90, 100 years ago
For my grandparents’ 50th anniversary a huge group of the family spent a week at a dude ranch in central Oregon. They had a cattle ranch when my dad was a kid and always kind of scoffed at the idea of a dude ranch but everyone had a great time. My mom wanted me to know what I was doing so I had riding lessons for months before we went, and kept it up for a while after. I loved trail riding the most of all of it. It was fun on the East Coast but riding through the desert, canyons, and lava walls on the east side of the Cascade Mountains was really special. That was over 30 years ago but I miss it every time I’m around horses.
I had to look to see if there’s a classic cars community; I found a small one: !classiccars@lemmy.world
Maybe this will help make it more active!

4·1 month agoIt’s been so long but I loved doing trail rides. In the best cases you feel a real connection with the horse.

This is not a breach of 183 million Gmail account passwords. This is a collection of credentials, largely stolen by infostealer malware and circulating among cyber criminals, which was collected by a security researcher and passed on to Have I Been Pwned. Over 90% of the data has already been seen in previous releases.
The “confirmed Gmail login” bit comes from contacting one of the victims at random to verify the data and he confirmed the password was his Gmail password. It doesn’t appear to be a Gmail breach, just the results of credential stealing happened to include some people logging into Gmail.
Edit: Perhaps a more useful link is the original blog post from Have I Been Pwned’s Troy Hunt.
