This is a good point. I’m going to download all the installers they have today and ferret them away just in case.

At least V2 still works and won’t just disappear. You can still use those apps you bought.
But it’s just sad to see this new path. I used to buy all the apps just because I liked the business model. I don’t really ever use Publisher, but I bought it anyway.
Now…there’s nothing that’ll get me to use this “free” shit.

Technology@lemmy.world•Apple is reportedly getting ready to introduce ads to its Maps appEnglish
1·4 days agoThis isn’t my experience, and I had a iPhone 12 Pro up until a couple of weeks ago. Google Maps generally ran alright that I can remember.
On the newest phones it’s really smooth, but those phones also have enough horsepower to make pretty much any app run smoothly.

Technology@lemmy.world•Apple is reportedly getting ready to introduce ads to its Maps appEnglish
8·4 days agoHonestly, I use it all the time now since I plug in my phone to my car and it’s right there.
It’s fine. Sometimes I use Google Maps. It’s also fine.
I actually like Apple’s approach to describing when to turn. It’ll say stuff like “go past this light and turn at the next” instead of vague shit like “in 1000 feet turn right.” Bitch, I don’t have a tape measure.
I think people who grip about Apple Maps as it is today probably just haven’t used it and want to gripe for griping sake.

And yet because of the coal lobby, republicans are trying to Weekend at Bernie’s an entire industry.

3·1 month agoFrom another article:
Comedian Bill Burr, after performing at the show’s opening night on Friday, defended the project on his podcast, suggesting that the cultural exchange could have unexpected benefits.
“It was great to experience that part of the world and to be a part of the first comedy festival over there in Saudi Arabia,” Burr said. “The royals loved the show. Everyone was happy. The people that were doing the festival were thrilled. The comedians that I’ve been talking to are saying, ‘Dude, you can feel [the audience] wanted it. They want to see real stand-up comedy.’ It was a mind-blowing experience. Definitely top three experiences I’ve had. I think it’s going to lead to a lot of positive things.”
