This sounds sooo cool
Lmms seems to still have activity on its github, though you’re right that there were no proper release since 2020-2021. Most options i know of have been presented by others, i’ll just put another reference to yabridge, as it could be useful to get some of your vst up and running.

6·2 months agoMy guess (i dont understand it all that well) is that people are less again using systemd, than against a growing dependency on systemd. If something bad happens to it, it could drag down other big elements of the linux ecosystem with itself.

ZorinOS for closest match to Windows, for my gf who did not care for the OS as long as it didn’t change much of her day to day habits. I now use it myself, and despite a few minor issues and people pointing out that it’s quite out of date software, i’m very happy with it, even for audio/visual/gaming stuff that could be tricky.
