President signed the legislation championed by late senator Lindsey Graham last month but has waived the restrictions as they were due to come into effect

Maybe “the West” no longer exists. There’s just the US and then there’s Europe, and each of them is doing their own thing.

A liberal democracy is impossible under the conditions America and Europe imposes.

They’re just NOW getting rid of the CFA franc!

America necessitates a strongman, elected or not, just to remain sovereign, just to keep us from taking all their natural resources and enslaving the nation as whole under neoliberal feudalism.

For an American, you’d have to imagine omnipotent space invaders with an unstoppable armada to even begin to imagine what it’s like to be a developing nation with natural resources today.

We had the nerve to parade a black general in front of Congress to say that Traore is using the funds from gold mines he nationalized to “protect the junta”. He spent them on an agricultural green revolution that has made Burkina Faso food independent. He’s creating dams and irrigation canals, transforming them into a bread basket of the Sahel. He’s given free tractors to farmers, built grain processing plants.

Your rhetoric is such bullshit, especially when America arms over 80% of dictatorships globally. We are the LEAST democratic nation in the world for this reason alone. Democracy is not a universal principle to us, just a privilege you enjoy on the backs of the oppressed. It’s only a selective cudgel weaponized to steal natural resources.

Our not-so-proxy war with Russia is no different.

Neither America nor Europe has the CFA-Franc-Zone. You are either thoroughly confused, blinded by hate, or a bot.

You keep posting this resource graph as if people are claiming this was a war for resources and this was proof it’s all wrong - neither is true. The war is about restoring power, glory and perceived claim to once/former territory, which is worse, imo.

I’m not defending colonialism or neoliberalism, btw.

          France is in Europe, Professor.

America has been balls deep in the Sahel this whole time. The CIA was a participant in the murder of Thomas Sankara. WTF do you think the purpose of the Pentagon’s AFRICOM is? Why did we have military bases there? Fighting terrorists that we’re arming?

You are absolutely defending necolonialism and neoliberalism. Every aspect of public institutions in a Ukraine has been systematically privatized and bought up by Blackrock. Look it up. Their grandchildren’s grandchildren will still be paying off generational debt from predatory military and IMF loans.

Annexation would make that disappear overnight.🫰💨 And that’s the reason their corporate neofeudal lords refuse to let them sue for peace.

          Just let Ukrainians vote, FFS.

France is also in the world, doesn’t mean everyone on the planet takes part in the CFA.

Polls consistently show most Ukrainians reject giving up territory for peace. And “annexation makes the debt disappear” means the people being annexed lose their say entirely.

Opposing neoliberalism and colonialism and opposing Russia’s invasion are not contradictory positions. I‘d argue you’re a hypocrite for wanting one colonial leftover gone, but another installed.

              No, just France’s African serfs.

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I think the normal method for determining the democratic human right of self determination is actually VOTING.

They can vote in Eurovision singing contests, but not for their government. Makes perfect sense. Sure. Yeah. Okay.

You can’t see it, but I’m making masturbatory motions with my hand.

So it’s France now, not Europa anymore? Progress, I suppose.

I don’t know or care about the Eurovision Song Contest, but I do know that voting in Ukraine is halted during martial law, which was installed in case of a invasion by a foreign power - which makes sense. I’m on the line about this, actually, but I do love how you bring this up to critize it, but ignore Putins cling to power by manipulation and election fraud. You‘ll probably similarly defend the elections in the GDR, Soviet Union and North Korea.

The clause you speak of was inserted into the constitution AFTER the coup led by the Svoboda controlled junta.

It may also come as a shock that the coup was unconstitutional.

Russia actually HAS elections. Putin is massively popular even by Western polling, and got more popular when he upheld Donbass and Crimean democratic secession militarily. The first democratic referendum in the Soviet Union saw almost every Republic choose to stay, INCLUDING UKRAINE.

Gorbachev dissolved the entire Soviet Union against the democratic mandate of the people.

The West only sees democracy as a cudgel to steal natural resources when it suits them. Democracy to you is just a selective privilege enjoyed on the backs of the oppressed.

Doesn’t matter when the clause was introduced.

Russia has elections like North Korea has elections. Putin might be popular, but so is Trump.

Gorbachev dissolved the entire Soviet Union against the democratic mandate of the people.

Didn’t you say Nations don’t have a right to exist, anyway?
