We were tied with US companies for our business, and this year I decided that I was done with that crap, got a VPS, and MXroute for the company email, deployed Next loud, ans we’re saving around 6,500 dollars per year on infrastructure (used to be it cost us 6000 yearly 😁) and nobody Ia trying to upsell us on shit we don’t need or want.
Drop them all, they’re just expensive garbage anyway.
That sounds like a pretty good deal to me…
Still cheaper than relying on US technology. Furthermore, the tech giants sided with Krasnov and the EU is telling them to get fucked. Kudos to the EU.
Sounds like short term pain to ensure long term sovereignty
1995 Corolla was kick ass automobile. We had the wagon version in Europe too. Shame Toyota’s G6 and GR6 were rather weak when you look at the current GR Yaris.
That’s what it’ll cost the tech giants.
In cases where I’ve worked on projects to transition to open source, they’ve all ended up saving money: capex goes close to zero, and opex starts out higher due to learning curve, but then drops below the old baseline in a few months.
Cool, an €115 billion injection into the European economy and jobs which we would have wasted offshore for no benefit, let’s do it!
The European tech giants are starting the US brain drain.
That’s it. It’s not thrown away it’s coming home. Software coming home
This seems to echo Trump’s hissy fit over NATO countries not paying their share of military expenses when what he really meant is that they aren’t funnelling more money to the US military complex and daring to spend within their own borders.
Translation: US Tech giants discovered their hostile actions cost them their customers.

is all this deserves in response.
And not ditching them would cost them €511B
Cost who?
Even if it where true: That is money well spend. 115 billion over 10 years is not that much for 27 countries combined anyway.
Afaik the EU27 public expenditure for 2025 alone was 9.32 trillion[1]. So we are talking about ~11 billion a year vs 9.32 trillion which is ~0.1% of public expenditure of the EU27. I think if we want we can handle that.

Edit:
Am I right in thinking that the study does recognize a spending shift towards the EU but doesn’t treat that shift as an offset against the 115 billion?
Don’t forget all the new local companies and jobs that will pop up to keep their systems online.
And staying with the USA might cost 100 billion per year in overpriced fossil fuels contacts and cleaning up USA’s military adventures.
Linux is free bitch
I thought America didn’t need anybody else? According to the clown in charge.
