    I’ve been on the hu g for anything close go MusicBee which was my go to for managing and listening to my huge flax library

    For now, RMPC and Tauon are both working well - but missing some features I’m used go having

    Yes I tried strawberry but not crazy about it

    I recently found cmus and have really taken a liking to it - mostly because it’s really lightweight, and I love the novelty of my music player running in the terminal.

    Oh and I get to do really cute, useless things nextt it

    But I’ll have to give Aqloss a try :)

    With a webpage like that, I’m not surprised that no one takes it serious. Looks like it fell straight out of a startup. 😵‍💫

      I’ve been using rmpc for a couple years now and I like it overall except that it can be a bit simple. Just a queue and monolithic library, can’t create playlists or play random files, etc.

      Its my first mpd client, but I know mpd is meant to be fairly narrow. Being clean and simple is mostly a benefit at least.

      Because it looks nice (prettier than most player on Linux IMO) also visualizer and lyrics fetching is pretty cool too, not that other player can’t do it but Aqloss is the best all around

    Oh this is great, I’ve been using Elisa for a while, but this is so pretty & customisable, definitely gonna keep using this.

    I like the fact that I can edit track info or automatically edit tracks in an album and add album covers in Clementine. Any music player alternatives that can do the same?

    Think music players are the software I’m most picky about and have switched multiple times. I’m kinda stuck between using Audacious and DeaDBeeF at the moment.

    Either something has all the features I want but looks bland or outright ugly, Or it looks really nice but is lacking in playlist management or some other weirdness.

    I don’t think I’ll ever find “the one”.

      I’ve been making my “the one” for years (off and on) now. I’m getting closer with https://github.com/MangoCats/Lempi - but it’s still got a big cost up front that I’m under-motivated to address because I’ve already paid (segmenting songs, IDing them in MusicBrainz, analyzing them, trimming lead-in lead-out points, etc.)

      The thing I like the best about Lempi is that it does “shuffle play” with a reasonable intelligence, auto-selecting a good subset from my collection based on example songs that I want to hear “things like this” during certain timeslots of the day. I can just let it run anytime / all the time like a radio station and not think about choosing my playlist.

    It does look nice. Layout is the hardest part to get right, there’s no one size fits all, so opinionated players like that can run into a lot of empty space like shown in the screenshot.

    My boring arse theming might give the wrong idea of Fooyin, but you can really make anything you want out of it, and layouts for every occasion.
