Thousands of people lost power in south metro Denver this week after squirrels managed to get into a power substation in Douglas County, causing outages two days in a row.
The attack by the furry little critters has begun.
This happened at the last utility I worked for, the poor thing used his body to complete a circuit that was supposed to be open at a substation, one main breaker and several feeders popped open which resulted in about half the feeders going down, several neighborhoods lost power. I dont remember the exact numbers but I think he was channeling about 8MW before the breakers tripped, probably the most powerful squirrel in the universe for a moment.
