    Can NZ join? 😁 Although I dont know how much it would do for us, we arent reliant on the USA for trade or defence anyway

      As an European, I’m confused what exactly associate partner is, because normally those countries are called European Economic Area countries (currently three - Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). It just means you get the benefits of EU free trade while not being a member of the EU. In practice, anything you buy and sell with EU should become cheaper and easier.
