Honestly, I think it’s a lot of Stockholm Syndrome. I spent a couple of weeks on the recently opened East side in the summer of 1990… the locals’ concepts of economics were - alien - like discussing a summer breeze with an octopus.

True, true. The US took all the remaining ones into NATO leadership though so that’s always something to remember.
