The hubris to think one is living at the end of history. We are in the middle of history hopefully just the beginning.
that’s my take as well. humanity is probably going forward into a looong future, it’s just the beginning of it. today, really, is not only the end of times (as the christians say) but the beginning of the future as well.
it’s just that there’s still going to be a significant downturn before it goes up again.
