The precedence is that the TV is connected to the Internet.

The TV won’t automatically connect to the Internet even with an open wifi network.

GN even says “reconnected” to the network at 0:53.

I’m sure it could happen in the future, but as of now, the TV must be connected initially for the exploitation to happen.

If the TV is never connected to the Internet from the start, there has been no proof that it’ll mesh with other TVs and find a way back to the mother ship as the original comment stated.

Now I’m sure they won’t let you use the TV at all until you’ve signed into an account. That’s how they get you to connect to the Internet.
