Maybe it just made me more aware of the true scale/extremes of existence on Earth so I can at least try to better place my experience & propaganda/ads I’m served in that context.
Kids are remarkably resilient and adaptive, it’s like a whole evolutionary thing (not saying it can’t cause permanent damage, just that shielding causes extreme damage too - and folk later in life being unable to reconcile with the smallesta of changes in their world that they can’t do nothing about).
Also, I’m assuming this is discussing pre-wall-gardened internet - being young and on specific ultra-processed for-profit platforms just develops a good consumer for the current oligarchy. Much like being raised by AI.

I’m lucky, I was born with the imp of intrusive thoughts on my shoulder, and we frequently high five each other. Actual real life trauma never stood a chance.
Also you develop a good management system that works for you because that is how you “survive” the early years (2-10?) when you are taught habits/productivity, social skills, etc - regardless if they come easy to you or if it’s just a bunch of effort/adrenaline/masking dumped into it.
(But then we got old & it’s getting harder to keep up with it.)
Adult child of an emotionally immature parent - I wasn’t really taught social skills so much as listening skills, and the quiet delight of books and time to oneself. The loneliness epidemic has been the best thing that ever happened to me.
Yeah, on a personal level I couldn’t relate to covid lockdowns struggles some had, it was so peaceful.

I was around 11 or 12. I’m pretty sure I was looking for porn, but they had all the good stuff blocked, so I had to look in increasingly obscure places just to find something that could make me feel emotions.
Really, the lack of access to good quality porn really screwed me up as a kid. I ended up watching far darker stuff because it was the only shit I could find.

HAH, I grew up with a rotary phone and a black and white TV using an antenna. We got 3 and 1/2 channels. If you wanted the 4th channel, one of us kids had to grab the antenna and stand there.
