Because for some reason everyone always collectively agrees that it’s absolutely unacceptable to ever punish racists. Didn’t happen for the Confederacy, or for the lynchers, or the anti civil rights adults who attacked children for simply attempting to attend school, not the actual Nazis or the American Nazi party nor it’s predecessor (look that one up). Everyone collectively agrees we must punish everyday people for everyday crimes but never ever can we even consider punishment for the richest and most powerful commiting the most heinous crimes at national or even global scale…no that would be too “cruel”, so we must allow them to fester and destroy every bit of progress our species ever makes no matter how many millions of us had to die for that centimeter of progress.

Sounds like the US needs something like a “guillotine phase” in its national history and collective consciousness to address this.

The reason is clear. The state was founded by literal enslavers. It’s never going to denounce its idols or confront the repercussions of this extremely racist core.

They’re never ever ever going to face the reality of people Washington, Jefferson, etc. Those monuments to racism, genocide, etc. will be defended to the death.

See, you say that, but every time I call out the French for being baby eating cannibal slaver scum of the earth, its all “the past is history” and “you can’t hold a grudge”. Every single country touched by France has been made worse. There is nothing at all redeemable about their culture or traditions. Its all shit and violence, all the way down to the core.

Capitalism. Racism is a lever the capitalists pull to divide the working class whenever they feel like we’re getting uppity.

Reconstruction was a failure that didn’t go nearly far enough. All the same levers of power were left in place for someone else to use. After decades of planning, they’re in use again. The Supreme Court is a right wing extension of the fascist movement that holds control of the presidential and congressional branches and every Southern state’s legislature. They played the long game while Liberals were too busy protecting capital interests to recognize or care about what was obviously happening. And now we’re here. With enough time, things will swing back our way, but if the next equivalent to the Reconstruction fails to pull out the weeds from the root, our great grandchildren will be right back where we are another hundred years from now.

This state was concocted by literal enslavers on a foundation of slavery, genocide, patriarchy, etc.

I’m pretty sure racism has only lost once. Then they murdered the dude responsible and created conditions almost as bad as slavery.

Not to mention the constant and extremely racist attacks on the rest of the planet.

Racism has always won in USA.

It didn’t get much press but the US no longer works with the UN agencies on refugees. There’s no substantial way to increase those numbers without the international community. It’s essentially a personal insult intended for anyone who would try to help someone displaced by war or violence.

Doesn’t that Venezuelan refugee and his wife count? The US was so kind to even send an helicopter and a safety team from the army to protect him in his trip.
