It’s not invisible though (despite them wanting it to be). The hand is the culture of the investment banks. They set who the winners and losers are, and if there was one thing The Big Short showed very well, it’s that anyone going against that culture is exiled.

Nah, it’s a poncy pub.
A bar retains the ponce but lacks beer.

They own, but they don’t control that ownership. Their savings are used as investment funds, but very few actually know what they are invested in. That control is in the hands of the indexes. S&P, NASDAQ and the like. Just because NASDAQ blessed SpaceX with being part of their index, millions of pensions bought the stock.

They should go the whole way, and stop making RAM completely. That should send their profit margins to the moon.

That works for “Mixture of Experts” models. These are basically models with distinct sets of weights and only a subset of them will be used on any particular query. The rest can sit on a disk.
It doesn’t work for dense models, where every weight is used all the time. There’s nothing inactive so a cache has nothing to exploit.

They’ve been superceded. Any military role they had is now done better and safer by satellites.
Unless you want to study a flight of a fast moving object in the atmosphere (something NASA may want to do as a research agency) there is no need for the SR71.

…but they don’t want to understand that, as it would mean they were supporters of a genocidal apartheid state.

It’s precisely that. The winds blows and the sun shines, then suddenly the power company would rather pay their customers to use more power than pay the generators penalty fees to turn off.

Even with something like Dresden there was something left. Something to rebuild from.

Gaza has been flattened. It almost looks like Hiroshima.

I often get paid for charging mine. They paid me 30p on Sunday.

Lack of any real power I think.

FTC seems to be one of the last federal agencies to fall.

I see where you’re going, but I think you’re seeing the effect of that naturally today and it’s not good.
WW2 has basically passed beyond living memory. People today don’t remember how Hitler came to power except through history class. People don’t remember the consequences of that on a personal level. They don’t remember living in fear. They don’t remember losing family members.
At the same time, you see fascist ideology on the rise across the west. The one place in Europe you’re seeing resistance is Spain. Franco ruled Spain until 1975. Still very much in living memory. I don’t think that’s coincidence.
Do you think anybody in Israel could condone what’s being done in their name if they remembered it happening to them personally?

I agree. Forgetting the others is enabling the exceptionalism that plagues the mind of the Israeli government.

Weed is the new alcohol.
Theoretically, yes. In reality they’re a long way down the food chain.
