  • My six year old daughter is playing Pokémon, and the other day we had this exchange:

“I beat another gym trainer: Misty!”

“That’s awesome! Did she have a Starmie like I said she would?”

“Yes, but first she fought with a different Pokémon called a Pussyduck.”

    “… Psyduck. It’s called a Psyduck.”

    “Yeah, ok.”

    “Say ‘Psyduck’. Say it.”

  • I used to only buy name brand snacks. I like the consistency, and I can afford it, so I’d spend the extra few cents. And honestly I just didn’t even pay attention to the price.

But $6 for a bag of Cheetos? I can still afford that, but I won’t because fuck them. I’m buying store brand for life now. If they put the price lower than it was before and fire someone for being so disrespectful to their customers, I’ll give them another shot, but that’s not going to happen.

  • It’s LLM-generated. I’ve seen this tweet discussed in a few different places now and I’m surprised I’m the only one pointing this out.

The spelling, grammar and sentence structure are too good for it to be Trump. It’s too coherent and fact-based, but it’s also too cohesive. It meanders like Trump, but then it gets back to the point. It’s presenting a formulaic argument. That’s something LLMs always do and Trump never does.

It’s also loaded with em dashes. There is no possibility that Trump used an em dash on purpose.

Trump probably put the prompt into ChatGPT himself and then didn’t bother to read it.

  • If it’s just a numbers game, then the US has saved orders of magnitude more people than they’ve killed. Hell, even if you just look at the Bush administration, PEPFAR alone saved more than 26 million people, while the Iraq war killed one million at most.

I mean if this is only about outcome and not about intent, the US has historically provided about 1/3 of the Earth’s foreign aid. You could discount that by saying that the US, being so wealthy, was more capable of doing that. But that’s not the outcome-oriented viewpoint that we’re taking.

We could look at the moral philosophy of the leaders and political systems at play here, but that would be “ignoring the reality”, so let’s just get out the sparklers and don our American flag shorts, because your by-the-numbers approach has a clear winner! USA! USA! USA!
