26 days agoI have seriously been thinking about taking all my PTO and getting a bus to just stand in front of the white house protesting. No plan, no organizing, just a hope that I could get people to join me. I’d probably lose my job though.

You’re just asking us all to get killed. We will never win in a firefight with ICE or the military. Trump says if it was up to Stephen Miller we’d have a country with only a population of 100 million. How do you think he gets there? By slaughtering us all. ‘Reciprocal action’ is exactly what they want, it’s why they keep escalating their behavior.
We do need to keep protesting, keep disobeying orders, keep blocking and following them everywhere they go. We need to win the psychological war they are waging with all their propaganda and get all the normal people just going about their days to finally pay attention.
And yes, we also need to fucking vote. If all that fails then sure, I’ll go out in a blaze of glory for ya. Get ready to defend me when I’m branded a domestic terrorist and my family becomes homeless because they can’t support themselves anymore because life insurance doesn’t cover death from domestic terrorism.
6·28 days agoI have found on Lemmy that you simply need to ask the questions to get the answers you want. While the user count may not be as high as on reddit, people here are way more active, and most of the commenters I’ve seen (especially in the tech communities) seem wicked smart and know what they are talking about.
We don’t have the massive backlog of posts with the same questions asked over and over again on every topic, but that doesn’t mean the knowledge isn’t here. Engage, make posts, ask questions! We’ll get there.
Well hopefully you made them go home and think at least, instead of just reassuring themselves and moving on until the next tragedy happens.
I can’t even think of what we should tell our kids. It’s impossible to say it’s going to be alright, and mean it right now. I’m sorry your fifth grader is so scared. Luckily my little girl is only 3 so she doesn’t see anything yet. I’m going to protect her from that for as long as I can.
That’s really disheartening to hear. We need to keep hammering home that this is not normal to all our friends And family. People are understandably scared, and not everyone is as plugged in to reality. Sometimes they accept the narrative out of fear, they want to believe that if they behave and follow the rules they won’t be shot in the face as well.
The good news is that you can only ignore reality for so long before it comes stomping down your door. The bad news is at that point it might be too late for any of us.
I am choosing to remain hopeful that these people will not get away with this. This regime is incompetent, and there are many people pushing back against them everywhere.

Crap, I really wanted to buy a new external HD for my home server setup sometime soon.
Pop!_OS has a dedicated .iso just for Nvidia hardware.

Yeah, that’s fucked. So as usual, the money is there it’s just being spent on the wrong things for the wrong people.
This might be a controversial opinion, and I am almost certainly uninformed on the Texas public school system as a whole, but from what I’ve seen they are not hurting for funding. Their high schools and middle schools have sports equipment that would make your local school insanely jealous. Some of the stadiums those kids play in are crazy nice, and they often have their own announcer crew, complete with ways to broadcast the game to multiple platforms.
More of that money should be diverted to the teachers obviously, but overall I think they have plenty of money to go around, from what I’ve seen.
But the oil companies don’t even want it to begin with. I actually am starting to think he’s trying to provoke a war with anyone to distract from Epstein.
