Linux@programming.dev•System 76's COSMIC Desktop becomes the first major DE to take a stand against AI with new policy that rejects AI/LLM contributionsEnglish
4·4 days agoDid you ever run CachyOS? I’m on it currently and I’ve been considering distro hopping to try an Atomic OS like Fedora Silverblue.
I tried Cosmic cause it looked interesting but had some issues in how game windows loaded so that kinda turned me off. Considering giving
NobaraNoctalia a go.Edit: got my N names mixed up
pmOS is a terrible shortening.

1482·19 days agoOn one hand, fuck AM radio. All the worst right wing talk shows are there.
On the other, in the event of a crisis AM radio just keeps on trucking.

A comic depicting the classic trolley problem in 2 panels
Panel 1: a trolley sits on the tracks with a switch off to an alternate track. On the main track, there is nothing to impede the trolley. On the switch off track stands The Roadrunner (see: Warner Bros). At the track’s lever stands Wile E. Coyote who has thrown the lever switching the trolley’s path of travel.
Panel 2: The trolley drifts sideways off the track to run over Wile E. Coyote.

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta Just Paid Nearly $17 Billion To Make Sure It Gets To Write The Kid Safety Rules For Every Other Social Media PlatformEnglish
1·1 month agoNah. Look, see, I put blocks on a lot of shit. Screentime to limit how much time he gets, no safari access or other browser, contact limits, etc. won’t go into the whole background of why, but look.
First it was Spotify. Kid was dead tired mid day and come to find out when I check Screentime it’s cause he was up till like 3 or 4 am on Spotify and finally figured out it’s not cause he was falling asleep to it, no he found out there’s videos on it and watching them all hours. This was a while back.
The. recently I find he’s constantly asking for access to this fucking TCG app, and he’s obsessed with Pokémon and all about selling cards and shit. Turns out that because the apps just a shitty wrapper he’s using it to get on Reddit and DM’ing rando’s and shit because he is the kind of kid to text a number he found on the floor, no joke.
Then removing that he figures he can just use fucking maps to open a safari sub window and have free web access.
Fuck sakes like kinda impressed at the finding holes, but also he’s a god damn drug addict after anything he can get his hands on. Hence the reason I’m ready to hand him two tin cans with string.
