At tech events and meetups, I’m showing them Linux.
When my friends come over, I show them my self hosted solutions on a Linux.
At work, where we use Macs, we talk about open-source, including Linux.

Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Brazilian influencer who defended US immigration crackdown arrested by ICEEnglish
15·2 months ago“I [support] Donald Trump – I like the guy,” announced the South American TikToker and Instagrammer whose account purports to show “the reality of the United States” from a migrant’s perspective.
In a previous video, Pena reportedly urged Brazilians to stay calm and not “despair” after reports that ICE agents were rounding up migrants, including Brazilians. “But they’re all crooks. The lot of them,” he falsely claimed of the migrants being seized.
On Saturday, Pena was himself reportedly detained and sent to the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark, New Jersey. One friend told the local newspaper the Brazilian Times that Pena had been taken into custody after missing a court hearing. The detainee’s lawyer, Andrew Lattarulo, was reportedly trying to resolve the situation and prevent him being transferred to another state.
I constantly wonder what these bootlickers think about after this whole experience.

4·2 months agoWhat does age verification mean for VPNs?
Because if I’m using a VPN using a UK server and I get any issues, I can switch to Spain, or Italy, or Zimbabwe or whatever. Is that not the case?

US court. Where is Anna’s Archive located?
Because with the state of America right now, every country should be giving the US Courts the finger. We’re pretty much a rogue nation now.

News@lemmy.world•Gov. Tim Walz encourages Minnesotans to film ICE agents for future prosecutions
10·3 months agoTake this with a grain of salt, because I’m not a lawyer nor am I in that space. I am simply quoting the content I heard from actual lawyers.
Trump has changed a lot of the legal world with his illegal acts. Prior to Trump, It used to be that federal court cases were often airtight. If you brought it up in federal court, it was expected both sides did their homework - all of it, every single detail. Because federal court cases were the defining “law of the land”.
Well, during the Trump administration, his cronies have so many federal lawsuits on them, often half-ass and badly made, that it’s creating a lot of deadlock on what is “the law of the land”.
So is it going to help now? No.
Is it going to help later? Absolutely. If not the Federal Court, but when we do our own Nuremberg trials.
